This role is part of the newly created European hub based in Dublin, which was chosen for its thriving innovation, social and start-up community, and ability to attract top talent and entrepreneurs. The transformation requires experienced leaders to implement the new operating model.
PURPOSE OF ROLE
Diageo has an ambition to make every consumer experience better with data. The purpose of this role is to enable us to step-change the speed and scale at which we leverage data in our marketing and consumer activation to drive business outcomes. As the Consumer Data Lead in the Europe hub, you will enable the business to collect and use rich, relevant, and legally compliant data:
- You will ensure that global standards are deployed (and nuanced appropriately) within local marketing processes, technology eco-systems and third-party processing activities. This includes ownership of the standards around data collection and its usage, privacy related obligations, and above all, establishing authentic and trusted sources of the consumer data in our markets that we use effectively and optimize against as we learn.
- You will put into action strong working knowledge of consumer data related challenges in a marketing context i.e. data collection, consent and preferences management, data storage, sharing, data marketing, retention as well as breach and crisis management in case of issues.
- You will partner collaboratively with market representatives from Marketing, Legal and Commercial and work hand in hand with Global Marketing and Legal to set the standards, with the goal of simple, agile implementation in local market plans.
- Your success will be measured by your contribution to Diageo’s usable data arsenal and utilization of those records.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Overall – you will be the bastion of 1, 2, 3 party data on behalf of markets, doing the technical and mechanical work that goes into collecting, maintaining and activating this data.
- You will align with markets on how they plan to activate their data in media and other use cases, and adjust the privacy policy, preference centre and sign-up forms by working closely with legal, technical and dev teams as a project manager.
- You will ensure that all personal data is compliantly transferred and utilized by our agencies and partners by co-ordinating the safe and compliant passage of this data through secured encrypted files.
- You will ensure potential new consumer data sources are well assessed following Diageo process. You will also inform how this process evolves, to be in step with business needs and rapidly changing personal data regulations.
- You will be the subject matter expert for our CRM and CDP technologies
- You will own the success of CDP exploitation in markets through project management, training and management.
- You will help create the conditions so that markets can fold data into their everyday business – enabling safe access by agencies for media, consumer planners for insights and D2C teams for consumer activation (as examples).
CORE COMPETENCIES
- You have a track record in the data field, including working with data ingestion, data technologies, privacy policies, preference centres, and more.
- You have demonstrable expertise in compliant data collection and usage, flexible to local market conditions.
- You have a history of assessing and acting on opportunity and risks in relation to consumer data usage.
- You are a collaborator with proven experience developing cross-functional partnerships
- You have strong industry experience and knowledge. You know what great data storage / activation looks like. You understand and stay up to date on the privacy landscape. You intimately understand the implications of GDPR.
